University of Incarnate Word Expands Campus with Purchase of AT&T Building
May 13, 2019
AT&T, once headquartered in San Antonio until 2008 before moving to Dallas, sold one of its corporate buildings recently to The University of Incarnate Word less than three months after it was placed on the market. The 347,426-square-foot building is conveniently located across the street from the University making it an optimal purchase for Incarnate Word.
According to AT&T the building’s sale will have no large impact on current employees or operations within San Antonio and most employees will be relocated to AT&T’s downtown location at 1010 N. Mary’s St. and 105 Auditorium Circle.
The University plans to use the 10 acre site for residential space, classrooms or office space. In addition, UIW officials stated that the parking is something Incarnate Word has “coveted” for quite some time and the extra space would expand the campus footprint by 20 percent.
The sale of the AT&T corporate building to Incarnate Word is a great sign as expansion of the University could mean more economic strength for this key central district in San Antonio.
